Little Tangles: Birthday Challenge

Welcome to another Neat and Tangled Little Tangles challenge! This week our challenge is birthday cards!

Here is what I created:

For the card, I used the Punchinella Stamp with white embossing powder and rubbed distress inks over it.  For the sentiment, I kept it simple with the  and Everyday Circles set and used a circle punch to punch out "Happy". I used foam underneath the background to give it some dimension and adhered the sentiment directly on top.

I hope you will join us over at the Little Tangles challenge blog and submit a card for the challenge!

Please submit your card HERE.  The winner will receive a Neat and Tangled stamp set of their choice- for more details please visit the Little Tangles blog!

Little Tangles Challenge: Clean and Simple

This week is another awesome Neat and Tangled Little Tangles challenge!

I created a couple cards for the challenge this month because I am a huge fan of clean and simple cards.

For both cards I used the Kindness Matters stamp set with Memento Ink in black and then colored in the hearts with Copics.  I matted the white cardstock pieces (Neenah) onto gray and black cardstock and adhered them onto the card fronts.

I hope you will join us over at the Little Tangles challenge blog and submit a card for the challenge!

Everyone Needs a Little Glitter!

What girl doesn't like a little extra glitter? I do!

A few weeks ago my mom and I were hosting a bridal shower for a childhood friend of mine and we wanted to do something special for the favors.  I immediately took to Pinterest to look for a unique DIY gift.  I saw some glitter wine glasses and just had to make them!

Here are the supplies you will need:
  • Wine glasses (I got mine cheap at IKEA)

  • Acetone

  • Cotton balls

  • Martha Stewart Crafts Decoupage Glue in Gloss Finish

  • Martha Stewart Crafts Fine Glitter

  • Sponge Paintbrushes

  • Krylon Acrylic Spray Pain

  • Press n Seal or Saran Wrap

Step by Step:
  1. Clean the area of the glass you'd like to decorate using a cotton ball soaked in acetone.

  2. Use a foam paintbrush to paint a coat of decoupage onto the wine glass (I decided to only do the stems of the glass).

  3. Sprinkle glitter over the decoupage while it's still wet.

  4. Let the glitter and decoupage set.

  5. Repeat steps 2-4 if one layer of glitter wasn't enough.

  6. Let glasses sit overnight.

  7. The next day, use Press n Seal to "tape" off any part of the glass where there isn't glitter.

  8. Spray the Krylon Acrylic Spray over all the glitter in light even burts.

  9. Apply 3-4 coats of Krylon Acrylic Spray.

  10. Let sit overnight.

  11. Wash glass by hand, drink, and enjoy!

We decidecd to put the girls names on the glasses with some ribbon and tags.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and can't wait to see what you create!

Please note: These glasses can only be handwashed.  We have washed ours a few times now and no glitter has been removed but be careful with cleaning them.

Project Life Storage

Hey there crafty people! I have not posted on my blog in forever and I wanted to fix that.

Lately I have been working on purging, cleaning, and organizing my craft space. I am feeling so much better now that there is less in my space and organizing has been pretty fun.  Today I have come up with my ideal storage solution for Project Life cards! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

The cart and main plastic divider are from IKEA (Links to find everything will be at the bottom of the post.) The four front bundles of cards are in little paper boxes I made with my Silhouette (the pattern for the box is the "3d vertical journaling card storage box" by Lori Whitlock) and I only used the smaller boxes of the pattern.

Here is a top view just to show just how much you can fit in the cart!

From the front, you can see the dividers I created with my Silhouette to divide my sets of Project Life cards. (Side note: See that little basket on the side holding my Stickles? It's the Bygel container from IKEA and they hang beautifully off the side of the cart!)

A close up of the dividers:

Here you can see how the box I made on my Silhouette fits up and under the Antonius divider.  I had to slightly angle the divider up and slip the boxes under before setting the divider down.  Then I  filled them up!

Hope this helps you with organizing your Project Life cards!

Playing with Washi!

I love washi tape! I know, I know... I've given in to the washi tape trend.  You can't help to fall in love after you've seen all the things you can do with it!

I always carry a little notebook in my purse so that I can write notes wherever I am. While at Barnes and Noble I realized mine had been used up and found these cute little notebooks!

When I picked them up I thought that they were just begging for some washi tape to spice them up! So that night I started playing and here is what I ended up with!

The washi tape wraps around to the back cover too with the diagonal stripes.  I think it turned out pretty cute and the neon colors make me smile when I pull it out of my purse!

Here are a few other ways to use washi tape!

Washi is a great way to make to easily add a pop of color to cards and it also makes a great embellishment on scrapbook pages!

I am headed to Detroit tomorrow for the Arts, Beats, and Eats festival and to learn how to stand up paddle board this weekend!

Have a great weekend!
